Sunday Mornings
Pathfinders/Y10+
Pathfinders (years 7–9) and Y10+ (year 10 and above) leave partway through the 10.45am Morning Service to meet at a local home where they work their way through drinks and biscuits, games, drama and discussion and learn more about what it means to be a Christian today. Both groups address the particular issues that young people face.
Weekly Events
The Lads' Group
For young men in years 7 and above, The Lads' Group meets on Thursday afternoons from 4.30pm to 6pm in the Stable Room where they play consoles, eat doughnuts and chat about what it means to be men and follow God!
Soccer Sunday
Ever wondered if there is any connection between faith and football? Is football really only a game? Come to Soccer Sunday (otherwise known as SOCCSY) and ponder these very questions. The group meets on the MUGA, Impington Rec every Sunday afternoon between 2.30pm and 3.30pm for a kick-about and costs 50p per session. The group also meet on Thursday evenings from 7pm to 9pm in the Stable Room for ‘food, FIFA, and Christian banter,’ where we share a meal and encourage the young people to make connections between faith and the beautiful game.
CYFA
CYFA is for young people in year 10 and above who want to explore their faith and how it impacts on their lives. The young people engage with God’s word in exciting and relevant ways to see what it might be saying today. CYFA meets on Thursday evenings during term-time in the Stable Room and runs from 7pm to 9pm.
Edge Café
A youth café for those in year 7 and above, Edge is a space for young people to get together, share a toastie and a hot chocolate, have a good time and meet with God. Regular activities include music, games and consoles, a café and various multi-sensory worship activities that help the young people explore God’s impact on their lives and how they can continue to join in with His story. Edge Café meets at the Stable Room on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month from 7pm to 8.30pm. For the most up to date information email edgecafe@standrewshiston.org or check out the Edge Café Facebook group.
Prayers
We pray weekly for the young people and the youth work at St Andrew’s. If would like to join us we meet in the Stable Room from 7.15am to 8am on Tuesday mornings during term-time.
IVC Christian Union Group
Stuck for something to do at lunchtime? Want to meet other Christians at your school? Then join the Impington Village College Christian Union. The IVC Christian Union is an informal space to explore and discuss the Christian faith. Whether you are a regular churchgoer, have been dragged along by a friend or simply want to enjoy a free doughnut, the IVC Christian Union is the place to be. The CU meets Tuesday lunchtimes in Room K2. Can you think of a better way to spend a lunchtime?
And Finally…
The youth work at St Andrew’s could not happen without the time and effort given by volunteers from within the congregation.
All of our volunteers are CRB checked and receive ongoing training in their work.
